Indiana State University

Indiana State University was founded in 1865 as the Indiana State Normal School. It is a public school located in Terre Haute, Indiana. Offering over 100 majors, the university is made up of six different colleges:

  • The College of Arts and Sciences
  • The College of Education
  • The College of Business
  • The College of Health and Human Performances
  • The College of Nursing
  • The College of Technology

With the College Network, the university has developed a blended learning program, which consists of independent study and online learning, allowing busy professionals to continue their education while continuing their careers. The university features small classes, world-renowned professors, and a healthy educational environment.

Indiana State University offers a wide array of programs, including both online and traditional. The school is diverse, with 2.4 percent international students and 17.9 percent minority students. Indiana State was the first public university in Indiana to require freshmen to have a laptop, an indication of their tech-forward attitude.

LVN to BSN Program Overview

In partnership with the College Network, comprehensive learning modules are offered in four courses in the online LPN to BSN degree program. The program generally requires 40 credit hours. Applicants should have completed a variety of courses, including nursing care, mental health, children and families, microbiology, communication, and psychology.

Courses in the program include:

  • Nursing in Mental Illness
  • Nursing Care of Families in Stress and Crisis
  • Population-Focused Community Health Nursing

Graduates are successful throughout the healthcare system, working in small clinics, emergency rooms, and large HMO centers.
